Types of Yarn Count and Definition of Yarn Count

Direct System: In direct system length will be fixed and weight will be changeable of a sample (yarn). In this system of number increase than the yarn will be coarser and if decrease then the yarn will be finer.
Example: Tex, Denier.


Direct system:
Yarn Count = W×l/L
W = Weight of the sample
l = Length of unit
L = Length of sample

Indirect System:
In indirect system length will be changeable and weight will be fixed of a sample. In this system of number increase then the yarn the yarn will be finer and if decrease then the yarn will be coarser.
